Since the end of the Second World War, technology has advanced rapidly. These advances in agriculture, transportation and industry have improved our way of life. Unfortunately, they have also damaged our environment.

The most obvious example of a useful technological advance is, of course, the car. Cars have changed the way we live and added to our convenience and comfort. They are also difficult to dispose of because they will not break down and cannot be absorbed by the soil.
