Package tourism refers to the components of a holiday which are combined together and sold as a package by a tour operator at an all-inclusive price. A package holiday usually includes the three main parts: transport, transfer, and accommodation. It brings tourists both benefits and drawbacks.

Package tourism is easy and convenient for tourists. They do not have to look up flight times, bus schedules, or anything else before their trip, except for packing their suitcase. Nowadays, with the growth of the Internet, people could search on websites and book these elements of their holiday themselves.

Package tourism also has its disadvantages. The first one is that package holidays can cause a limited revenue to the local destination, especially if the package encompasses an all-inclusive hotel. This is because much of the money paid by the tourist will be retained by the tour operator and other foreign organisations- this is an example of economic leakage in tourism. Another disadvantage is the association that package tourism has with mass tourism. Because package holidays are typically mass produced, the result is large amounts of tourists all visiting the same place often at the same time. This causes many problems, from environmental degradation to negative social impacts of tourism.
